Kracie DIY Candy Kits – Doughnuts

Japanese newspaper

Japanese newspaper

Since trying out the DIY eraser kits, I really got fascinated with Japanese craft kits. They are so adorable and fun to make and as I mentioned, some kits are edible which makes things pretty interesting. I decided to explore the world of DIY candy kit Popin Cookin from Happy Kitchen by Kracie (I hope this is accurate cause it was hard to find the information for.) I’m not sure what’s in those kits so I’ll just pretend the food I’m about to make and taste is made of sunshine and puffy clouds sprinkled with rainbow coloured unicorn fart dust.

I ordered 3 kits; donuts, burgers and some sort of cake thing. I decided to start with the donuts. The little box the kits came in was also stuffed with Japanese newspaper and that got me really excited because it’s different and new to me.

Separated

Scooped milk

Using the scoop, fill up the bottom of the container up to the mark with water. Most people use water to make those but I read that the cake type of candy kits are tastier when made with milk instead of water so I went for milk. Same measurements apply.

Vanilla dough

Add the vanilla dough pouch.

Ready to knead vanilla dough

Mix well until the sugar scraping sound has stopped.

Vanilla dough balls

Take the vanilla dough out of the container and knead it into balls.

Chocolate dough

Repeat the same steps with the chocolate dough.

Dough in cut out donut mold

Place the dough into the mold.

Strawberry and Vanilla icing

In the icing container, add one scoop of water or milk on each side (one side at a time) and pour a pouch of icing (vanilla or strawberry). Mix until icing powder and liquid is well blended.

Chocolate icing

Take the dough container and add one scoop of water or milk then pour the chocolate icing powder. Mix together and add the icing in the little plastic bag. Cut the ending.

Bear donut

Decorate your donuts with icing, sprinkles and little candy thingies.

Iced and sprinkled

Make weird faces while taste testing. Be somewhat impressed because you were expecting it to taste like shit.

TASTE TEST

The dough texture was that of a wet sponge and it tasted like a vanilla and chocolate chemical. The vanilla, strawberry and chocolate icing were awesome. They were all quite flavourful and the chocolate icing was more of a fudge which tasted delicious. The little brown and beige candies tasted like the dough but crunchy instead of spongy. The sprinkles tasted like the sprinkles you get at your local supermarket, nothing special. All mixed together, it wasn’t so bad, even surprisingly…good.

I give it a 6/10
