Repeat After Me

Repeat After Me

They sit in silence at their desks
With empty stomachs and distress
They ask the adults why
But all they hear are war cries

The dirt between our fingers
And our melancholic whispers
Keep working hard at your nine to five
Keep working hard to survive

You sit in silence between your four walls
At your feet are chains and balls
Discover within yourself the weekend warrior
And break through the barrier

They send our children to fight
With promises of sweetness and light
Destroying families and hearts
All in the name of mastering the arts

Pay your dues, follow the scheme
Made up beliefs and paper dreams
Now repeat after me,
I

Capsules to make you feel better
Carve your farewell letter
Now repeat after me,
I am

We sit in silence and stare at the lonely road ahead
Bloody feet and tired souls, we go where we are led
Now repeat after me,
I am free
