Apple Pie

Filling Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of thinly sliced, peeled apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Milk

In a large bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg

Add apple slices and toss gently until coated

Transfer apple mixture to pie plate (crust prepared in advance)

Seal pie and crimp edge as desired

Brush edge with milk and sprinkle additional sugar (optional)

Bake: 375°
Time: 50 minutes

To prevent edge of pie to over-brown, cover with foil and cook for 40 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 20 minutes


  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 8 to 10 tablespoons cold water

In a medium bowl stir together flour and salt

Add pieces of shortening and tablespoons of water until mixture turns into dough

Roll dough into circle and gently place into pie plate

  1. What a delicious looking pie. You should try brushing it with egg to give it a great colour, then sprinkling a little sugar over.
