Since I’ve been working with professionals and talking to individuals about Social Media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, I’ve encountered numerous misconceptions regarding the use of Social Media in today’s society. Whether you are new to the idea of Social Media or you have been using the technology for years, you have surely encountered the following.
5- Social Media only revolves around Facebook and Twitter
Although Facebook and Twitter are both very popular, they are not the only platforms you can use to get your product, brand or message out there. In fact, there are so many options to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming to make a decision. Depending on the material you’d like to share and who you would like to share it with, Facebook and Twitter can be a great way to advertise because of what they offer, to not only the regular public but also for businesses that are looking for an inexpensive but effective way to advertise. If you find that Facebook and Twitter do not interest you, you can check out Blogs, MySpace, LinkedIn and YouTube, to only list a few. To really make sure you use the best platforms that work for you and your product, make sure you do the appropriate research regarding what you need out of your Social Media experience. Determining what you want out of any Social Media platforms is the first step to figuring out which one will work best for you.
