Paper cuts

Paper Cuts

He saw the disappointment in her eyes
The glowing twinkle that went fast asleep as he spoke the words
Her heart shattered like crystal behind her fragile frame
She kept her expressions under control
Never revealing too much emotions

Her eyes widened at the thought

And a horrified look settled on her face
Carefully, she stood in the doorway
Watching him from the corner of her eyes
Waiting for the perfect moment
As invisible as she might think she is

Paper cuts showed no mercy

Dance in the morning sun to evacuate your senses
Dance as the feeling grows strong
Never minding what’s ahead
Never caring of what was left behind
She keeps being pulled back

From memories she wishes to erase
Drinks more to numb it all
One more round for the broken hearted
One more round and she’s a lost cause

Never shed a tear
Her momma made it perfectly clear
You are stronger than you think
When hell breaks loose

She will be standing…
